The
Call to Holiness describes an account of spiritual life. Throughout the
chapter, it focuses on Jesus’ teaching to his followers, in which we should be
prefect, just like our heavenly father is. As Christians, holiness starts with
Baptism. Out heart should be transformed with love and to fulfill the
commandments, particularly to love our neighbor as God loves us. However, in
order to have close connection with God, we must come forth to it and put
effort into in. The only thing that hinders is the laziness of the heart.
When
a person wants something, he or she goes looking for it; we don’t stop until we
obtain it or satisfy our heart temporarily with something short lived. But
there is a time when the things we want draw away from us. “If I need something,
I chase after it if it goes away”? Why? Because so many things in life that we
want are false deceptions. They do not necessarily pertain to what God wants us
to have. It does not make sense to us in the moment because we do not think
that maybe God does not want us to have it. They purposely turn away from us
because its God’s way of saying that this is not your calling or path.
The
Universal Call to Holiness is dependent on the statement. Baptism allows us to
share in God’s divinity and gain new life internally, in which being perfect as
the heavenly father comes into play. God wants us to live in complete holiness
through his will; especially to love everyone as Christ’s loves us. Because in
society, things are perceived to work towards the right path and in actuality
it is not in life, receiving the gift of holiness is a beauty from God.
Therefore, we should love God first and foremost and our neighbor as well. There
are plenty of things that people run into but in continues to slip away for the
right reasons because it does not tie into grace given to us through the Holy
Spirit from God.
For
an everyday Catholic, this quote is something that people live by. The thought
process of knowing to live in holiness and to love everyone like God loves each
of us is a crucial part to living in the faith. Cherishing the gifts and
talents we have and using them allows other people to see God shining through
us. It is all about living out the faith and being able to have a spiritual
relationship with Christ to experience holiness and love.
I
think to “say who Christ is”, is to express to people in the world who God is.
He gives us holiness through grace and wants us to have a strong relationship
with him. However, when doing it, we should not be afraid or in embarrassment
to talk about him because he is everything that we need in our lives.
Especially since today, religion is not of high importance to certain people;
it causes them to not have a spiritual relationship with God and they loose
their purpose, which comes from God. Also, love is not expressed properly and
contradicts with how God wants us to love. Educating people spirituality on the
faith, Confirmation allows us to do; it encourages people to strengthen and or
develop a relationship with God, so that he can help us live our lives through
holiness, love and happiness.
